Reading together in the Grant household means a lot of things – learning, imagining, and exploring, among others – but what it boils down to is a feeling: love.
An adult and a child reading together is a simple practice, but also a powerful one: It helps the child build their vocabulary, oral language, and listening comprehension skills, as well as their knowledge and understanding about the world around them.
Read Together is a collaborative effort to have more children in Mecklenburg County experience reading together with an adult, which is a simple yet powerful way to help children develop and grow critical literacy skills.
